Previously, we reported that YouTube is experimenting with blocking users from watching videos if ad blockers are detected. For now, it’s only an experiment on YouTube, and it’s unknown whether it will be expanded to all users or not. No doubt the company is trying to come up with ways to make people sign up for YouTube Premium, but the plan is getting more expensive than ever.
According to SoyaCincau, the YouTube Premium Family plan, which allows sharing with up to 5 household family members, now has a monthly cost of RM33.90. This represents a RM7 increase from the previous price of RM26.90 per month. Users who are already subscribed will receive an email notification from YouTube regarding the price change and the date it will become effective.
This marks the first price increase for YouTube Premium in Malaysia since its introduction in 2019. However, the rates for YouTube Premium individual and student plans in Malaysia remain unchanged at RM17.90 per month and RM10.90 per month respectively.
Premium users will have access to “1080p Premium” option, which has higher quality than regular 1080p videos. Beside that, Premium subscribers also have access to other new features which you can read more about it HERE.
