Last month, we reported that YouTube is testing a new 1080p stream option dubbed “1080p Premium” that has higher quality than regular 1080p. Yesterday, YouTube announced that this option is finally to available to other Premium subscribers as well.

YouTube states that the newly introduced 1080p Premium option is a version with a higher bitrate, which is designed to make visuals appear sharper, especially for videos that have a lot of detail and movement. But it’s only available for iOS users for now and it will be coming to Web soon. The regular 1080p option is still there for the free users.

However, it’s important to note that the 1080p Premium option will not be available for all videos. YouTube has specified that this feature will not be visible for videos that are uploaded in resolutions above or below 1080p, Shorts, or livestreams.

Other than that, Premium users are also getting a feature where they can resume watching videos across Android, iOS, and Web. For example, say you were watching a video at home on your PC, but it’s time to go to work. With this feature, you can resume watching the same video on your phone.

In addition, YouTube has expanded the Premium queuing feature to phone and tablet, allowing users to queue videos that they want to watch next. Also, you can watch videos with your friends and family via Google Meet on Android and iOS users can do the same using FaceTime via SharePlay.

YouTube also added a new feature called “Smart Downloads” where it will automatically add recommended videos straight to your library, when you are connected to WiFi, for offline viewing.
