This week marks the first visit of Jensen Huang, the Chief Executive Officer of Nvidia Corp, to Malaysia.
Invitations have been extended to the media for an upcoming roundtable session scheduled for this Friday, according to The Edge Malaysia.
Huang, a prominent figure in Silicon Valley and the founder of the US-based graphics chip giant, is regularly recognised for his influence in the tech industry. Time Magazine, for instance, named him one of the 100 most influential people in AI this year.
Known for his distinctive black leather jacket, Huang’s company, Nvidia, is a key player in providing technologies that drive gaming PCs, data centres, AI applications, and generative AI.
Notably, in mid-2023, Nvidia achieved the significant milestone of becoming the world’s first chip company to surpass a market capitalisation of USD1 trillion (~RM4.66 trillion).
The purpose of Huang’s visit to Malaysia remains undisclosed, but it’s noteworthy that the nation has recently experienced a surge in foreign direct investments in the semiconductor sector. This trend includes contributions from other US-based chip companies such as Texas Instruments, Micron, and Intel.
Additionally, in March of this year, YTL Communication’s YES 5G, in collaboration with Nvidia, introduced Nvidia’s GeForce NOW cloud gaming service to Malaysia.
