If you are using Unifi and you have been receiving weird phone calls, emails, or messages lately, this could be the reason.
The Star reports that Telekom Malaysia (TM) sent an SMS to Unifi users today to alert them that a data breach has occurred that affects some customers. The company said that it has isolated the risk and has put in place additional security measures to protect customers. TM also notified the relevant authorities and apologised for the inconvenience.
In an email to customers, TM said that some personal information, such as name, MyKad/passport number, and contact details, may have been compromised. The company said that no other information was breached.
The company recommended that affected customers take measures to protect themselves, such as being cautious about any unsolicited communications and avoiding clicking on links or downloading attachments from suspicious emails.
TM confirmed that the breach has been contained and that steps have been taken to minimise the potential impact on affected customers.
This is the second data breach that TM has suffered recently. In December 2022, the company confirmed that a data breach affected 250,248 Unifi Mobile customers.
