Apple is finally launching the HomePod lineup in Malaysia, years after its initial release. The first-generation HomePod debuted in 2018, followed by the HomePod Mini in 2020, and the second-generation HomePod in 2023.
The flagship HomePod speaker features a touch control panel on top and integrates Siri into the device. Powered by the S7 chipset, the same one used in the Apple Watch Series 7, it also includes Apple’s U1 ultra-wideband chip for the Handoff feature, enabling users to transfer audio by tapping the speaker with their iPhone or iPad.
The HomePod has a custom-engineered high-excursion woofer that drives the diaphragm a 20mm driver, built-in bass-EQ mic, and beamforming array of five tweeters around the base all work together to achieve a powerful acoustic experience. Additionally, the speaker dynamically adjusts the room’s acoustics in real-time for optimal performance.
In contrast, the HomePod mini offers similar features as the more expensive model but in a more compact size.
The mini also includes Siri, stereo pair capability, an intercom feature, and Handoff, along with a built-in temperature and humidity sensor.
However, it does not support spatial audio or room sensing and it uses a much older S5 chip.
