Previously, we reported that Samsung is reportedly planning to release several new devices later this year, including the Galaxy Z Fold 5, Galaxy Z Flip 5, Galaxy Tab S9 series, Galaxy Watch 6, and potentially new earbuds. Also, Samsung could be planning to organise their next Unpacked event during the last week of July, instead of August due to increasing competition in the foldable devices market.

Thanks to a prominent leaker, we don’t have to wait until the last week of July to see what the Z Fold 5 and Z Flip 5 is going to look like.

According to Smartprix, judging from the renders, it seems Samsung will be sticking with its established foldable design for the Galaxy Z Fold 5, but the phone will have different dimensions than its predecessor.

When unfolded, the phone will measure 154.9 x 129.9 x 6.3mm, and when folded, it will be 154.9 x 67.1 x 13.5mm. The thickness of the folded phone is noteworthy, as it’s slimmer than the previous Z Fold 4 due to a rumoured “droplet” hinge design.

The Z Fold 5 is expected to have a 7.6-inch AMOLED display, with better brightness than the previous model. The external panel will be a 6.2-inch screen with a refresh rate of 120Hz. The phone is likely to be packing Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 SoC, with various LPDDR5X RAM and UFS 4.0 storage options. The camera setup will be a triple rear camera with a possible upgrade in camera sensors, and the primary camera will capture 8K video at 30fps.

The Z Fold 5 will come with One UI 5.1.1 based on Android 13 out of the box, and it will be protected with IPX8 water resistance and Gorilla Glass Victus 2.

The Galaxy Z Flip 5 will have a new design compared to Z Flip 4 according to renders from MediaPeanut. The most obvious improvement is the much larger external screen compared to the small one on Z Flip 4.

It’s expected that the primary cover screen of the device will have a size of 3.4-inches, while the main display will measure 6.7-inches. The larger external display has the potential to offer improved functionality, allowing users to engage with notifications, music controls, and other important features without having to unfold their phone.

The flip phone may have a newly designed hinge that reduces creases on the display. It’s possible that it will be powered by the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 as well and feature an improved camera system with larger sensors and battery life may also see some enhancements. The phone is expected to be launched in late July.
