Apple announced that a special event will take place on Tuesday, 7 May at 7am Pacific Time (10pm Malaysia time), with a live stream accessible on both and YouTube.

The event invitation features the tagline “Let Loose” and showcases an Apple Pencil, hinting at a focus on iPads.

At the event, new iPad Pro and iPad Air models, as well as updated accessories like the Apple Pencil and Magic Keyboard, are anticipated to be announced.

According to Bloomberg, the new iPad Air will be available in two sizes, while the Pro model will be upgraded to OLED screens.

The iPad Air, Apple’s mid-range tablet, is currently equipped with a 10.9-inch display. In the upcoming release, Apple plans to introduce a larger version, approximately 12.9 inches, which aligns with the current largest iPad Pro size.

OLED displays will offer a broader spectrum of colours, bringing the iPad Pro’s screen technology on par with that of the iPhone, which has featured OLED since 2017. Additionally, the premium tablet will be powered by the M3 chip.

Enhancements to the new Magic Keyboards will render the iPad Pro more akin to a laptop and will incorporate a more robust frame made of aluminium.

A new Apple Pencil is rumoured to feature a potential new “squeeze” gesture for specific actions and eventual support for visionOS.
