Nothing recently announced that it will be establishing a new foundation of its audio product suite with two new wireless earbuds, Nothing Ear and Nothing Ear (a).

The Nothing Ear boasts an identical design as the Ear (2), but the refined 11mm dynamic drivers with a ceramic diaphragm in the new Ear deliver richer and crisper highs, complemented by two additional vents that enhance airflow for a clearer sound signature.

LHDC 5.0 and LDAC codec support enable high-bitrate streaming, while an improved Smart ANC algorithm automatically adjusts for noise leakage. The Advanced Equalizer option in the Nothing X companion app allows for precise sound customisation, shareable with friends.

Nothing Ear uses Bluetooth 5.3 for dual device pairing, along with Google Fast Pair and Microsoft Swift Pair functionalities. Enhanced talk microphones with Clear Voice Technology ensure better voice pickup and clearer calls.

Nothing claims the earbuds have a battery life of 8.5 hours (5.2 hours with ANC) and 40.5 hours with the charging case. Wired charging via USB-C and wireless charging up to 2.5W on compatible Qi chargers are supported.

Nothing Ear (a) maintains most of the key features found in the higher-priced Nothing Ear model, including 11mm dynamic drivers, ANC, and LDAC support.

It boasts a slightly altered design with a rectangular case and is available in a vibrant yellow colour in addition to the traditional white and black options.

The remaining specifications closely align with the pricier Nothing Ear variant, except for the absence of custom EQs and the more advanced ceramic diaphragm.

Battery life is rated at 9.5 hours of playback with ANC off (5.5 hours with ANC), with a total of up to 42.5 hours including the charging case. Wired charging via USB-C is the only charging option available for this model.

Pricing and Availability

The Nothing Ear will be available for RM659, while the Ear (a) is priced at RM479. Both devices will be exclusively sold via Crossover’s online store starting from 27 April 2024.

General availability will begin on 11 May and interested customers can purchase both the Ear and Ear (a) through the brand’s official stores on Lazada and Shopee, as well as other authorised local retailers.
