The Ministry of Communications has suggested that SpaceX’s satellite internet service, Starlink, to establish its office in Malaysia for the convenience of people seeking their services in the country.

Bernama reports that the Communications Minister Fahmi Fadzil revealed that this proposal was made during a meeting with Rebecca Hunter, the director of Starlink Global Licensing and Market Activation, at the Malaysia Pavilion during the Mobile World Congress Barcelona 2024 (MWC2024).

Fahmi mentioned that discussions also touched upon various intriguing topics, including the possibility of providing direct-to-cell services from satellites to mobile phones, and exploring potential collaborations with telecommunications companies in Malaysia for such services.

In Malaysia, you can get Starlink through authorised resellers such as REDtone, VSTECS, and MEASAT.
