The Economy Ministry reported that, as of February 21, a total of 3,683,944 Malaysian citizens and permanent residents have registered with the PADU (Central Database Hub) system.
The ministry, in response to Sungai Petani Member of Parliament Dr Mohammed Taufiq Johari’s inquiry, disclosed that out of this total, 1,699,771 individuals have updated and verified their information, according to Bernama.
The registration numbers are highest in Selangor with 558,115 people, followed by Sarawak with 478,236, and Johor with 355,414.
The Public Data and Urban Transformation Unit (PADU), launched on 2 January, allows registration and updates until 31 March. The second phase, from April to June, involves algorithm development based on use case needs.
The ministry emphasised that PADU’s implementation aims to enhance governance and improve policy planning and implementation through data.
PADU goes beyond targeting subsidies and aid; it also focuses on comprehensively identifying people’s socioeconomic standings.
