Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department (Law and Institutional Reform) Datuk Seri Azalina Othman Said and Communications Minister Fahmi Fadzil took charge of a Working Committee Meeting on the Drafting of New Laws Related to Cybercrime.

Azalina posted on the X (formerly Twitter), conveyed that the proposed initiative aims to establish fresh legislation addressing cybercrime issues. This move reflects the MADANI Government’s commitment to safeguarding people in the cyberworld.

Azalina emphasised the indispensability of online services in contemporary life, acknowledging their pivotal role in enhancing convenience, particularly in the business sector.

Despite these benefits, she underscored the escalating threat of cybercrime, transforming the cyberworld into a breeding ground for unlawful activities.

Highlighting the gravity of the situation, Azalina pointed out that the meeting drew the participation of officials from various ministries, agencies, and affiliated organisations.
