Digital Nasional Berhad and CyberSecurity Malaysia, will be placed under the newly-formed Digital Ministry, according to Communications Minister Fahmi Fadzil.

He was quoted by FMT saying that the Malaysian Modernisation and Management Planning Unit (Mampu), and Malaysia Digital Economy will also be part of the Ministry.

Meanwhile, Mimos Bhd—the company behind Digital ID—which was under the Prime Minister’s Office will be moving back to the Science, Technology and Innovation Ministry (Mosti).

Fahmi added that the MyDigital ID function will remain temporarily under the Prime Minister’s Office, but it will be managed by the Digital Ministry after March.

As for the Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission (MCMC), that will remain under the Communications Ministry, Malay Mail reported.

Before this, cybersecurity was put under the Prime Minister’s Department but the prime minister agreed for it to be transferred to the Digital Ministry so that corporate and private sector work can continue under the Digital Ministry. What it will need is some rebranding so that no misunderstanding arises concerning our digital safety and all of this will be done by the digital ministry. This was decided by the Cabinet today where the main points were for DNB and Cybersecurity (Malaysia) to move.

The Digital Ministry was formed last month after a Cabinet reshuffle which saw the split of the Communications and Digital Ministry into two with Damansara MP appointed as the new Digital Minister.
