Currently, you can lock WhatsApp using PIN and fingerprint, but there’s no way to lock certain chats from prying eyes. But the instant-messaging company is working on a new feature that will allow users to lock specific chats.

According to WABetaInfo, WhatsApp is working on a new feature that will improve the privacy of its users. This feature will allow users to lock their private conversations within the chat’s contact or group information. Once a chat is added to the list of locked chats, it can only be accessed through a user’s fingerprint or passcode, and will only be visible on the locked chats screen.

This will prevent anyone else from opening the chat without the necessary authentication. If someone tries to access the chat without the user’s fingerprint or passcode, they will be asked to clear the chat to gain access, ensuring that the user’s privacy is protected.

The new feature provides an extra level of confidentiality for confidential chats, as it enables users to safeguard their privacy by stopping unauthorised access to their messages. In addition, the feature helps to maintain the privacy of media by ensuring that any media content shared in a locked chat is not automatically stored in the device’s gallery.

It is important to note that the chat locking feature is currently in the developmental phase, and will be made available to users in a future update of WhatsApp.
