Realme GT5 Pro Hits The Market In China

Realme just unveiled its latest flagship, the Realme GT5 Pro in China and it boasts cutting-edge specifications and features.

The Realme GT5 Pro comes in vegan leather backs in Red Rock and Bright Moon colours. There’s a textured glass finish called Starry Night as well.

Powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 SoC, the device comes with up to 16GB of LPDDR5X RAM and up to 1TB of UFS 4.0 storage.

Featuring a tall 6.78-inch 8T LTPO 1.5K OLED display, the phone supports an adaptive 144Hz refresh rate, 2160Hz PWM dimming, 2160Hz touch sampling rate, DC dimming, 20,000-level dimming, Pro-XDR technology, 1,600 nits of global max brightness, and an impressive 4,500 nits of peak brightness. The curved screen includes a punch-hole cutout for the selfie camera.

On the rear, the Realme GT5 Pro is equipped with a 50MP primary camera (Sony’s LYT-808 sensor) with OIS, a 50MP periscopic telephoto shooter (Sony IMX890) offering 3x optical zoom and up to 120x hybrid zoom, and an 8MP Sony IMX355 for ultra-wide-angle shots. The front houses a 32MP selfie camera.

Powering the device is a substantial 5,400mAh battery supporting 100W wired fast charging and 50W wireless fast charging.

An innovative feature introduced in the Realme GT 5 Pro is support for various hand gestures to control the phone.

Additionally, users can turn the screen off by moving their hand towards it. Notably, the palm unlock feature, claimed to be faster than facial recognition, employs machine learning with 10,000 models.

Realme commits to providing three years of major Android OS updates and four years of security updates. The device runs on the Android 14 OS with Realme UI 5.0 custom skin out of the box.

Other noteworthy features include an under-display fingerprint scanner, vapour chamber cooling system, USB 3.2 USB-C port, and an AI super assistant supporting intelligent speech generation and leveraging an AI model with 7 billion parameters.

Pricing and Availability

The Realme GT5 Pro has a starting price of CNY3,298 (~RM2,154) for 12GB+256GB model and it goes all the way up to CNY4,198 (~RM2,743) for the 16GB+1TB version.

    For now, this phone is only available in China, but Realme Malaysia has released a press release saying that they are going to introduce a new GT smartphone to the Malaysian market by the end of 2023.

    So we guess they are referring to none other than the GT5 Pro. We will be keeping our eyes and ears open for the availability of this phone here.
