WhatsApp’s disappearing message feature enable users to send images and videos for a one-time viewing, after which they will disappear from the conversation forever. Additionally, the one-time images and videos cannot be captured through screenshots.
Previously, this feature was only available to Android and iOS users However, WhatsApp is currently extending this functionality to its desktop and Web versions.
WABetaInfo reports the reintroduction of the “View Once” feature for photos and videos on WhatsApp Web and WhatsApp desktop versions. A screenshot in the report displays the “view once” option in the caption bar within the drawing editor on the WhatsApp for Windows platform.
As per the report, the company is activating the “view once” feature for images and videos on WhatsApp for macOS and linked devices such as iPads, with a rollout on the WhatsApp web platform as well.
This feature was previously available on the desktop and web versions of WhatsApp, it’s making a return in response to user demands and suggestions, having been temporarily removed due to security concerns.
Some users already have access to this feature, and for those who haven’t received it yet, it’s anticipated to roll out soon. Users are advised to ensure their apps are updated if they wish to use the feature.
