CyberSecurity Malaysia issued a warning stating that cybercriminals are employing a phishing site, imitating the MyKasih Sumbangan Asas Rahmah (SARA) website on Telegram.
The fake site closely resembling the login page of a popular eWallet service in Malaysia, to target Telegram users with the intention of illicitly acquiring control of their user accounts, according to a news report by Bernama.
The agency elaborated that Telegram users are receiving messages containing links to this fraudulent website.
Upon clicking the link, users are redirected to the phishing site, where they are prompted to enter their phone number.
Subsequently, the scammers utilise this information to gain access to the victim’s Telegram account and make unauthorised attempts to seize control.
The agency further disclosed that the fraudulent website link has been distributed across various Telegram groups.
