The Ministry of Communications and Digital (KKD) has engaged in discussions with all telecommunication companies (telco) to ensure their readiness for potential floods as the monsoon season approaches.

Deputy Minister of Communications and Digital, Teo Nie Ching, emphasised the ministry’s responsibility to maintain uninterrupted communication services during flood incidents, according to Bernama.

Teo stated, “In the event of a flood, we will deploy the Information Department to the field, providing firsthand information to affected residents and facilitating their prompt evacuation to safer locations.”

She continued, “We will collaborate closely with telco companies to prevent any breakdown in communication during such critical times, ensuring seamless execution of rescue and assistance efforts.”

Teo further stressed the ministry’s preparedness for flood situations and encouraged users to report any disruptions in telecommunication services within their areas.

“While we have not yet received any complaints regarding communication service interruptions in flood-affected regions,” she stated, “KKD remains committed to working alongside telco companies to prevent such incidents from occurring.”
