At the Apple Wonderlust event yesterday, Apple claims that its iPhone 15 Pro is ushering in the new age of mobile gaming by offering support for console and PC games that were previously unavailable on mobile hardware.

The iPhone 15 Pro is set to receive a roster of AAA games, featuring native adaptations of Resident Evil 4 Remake, Resident Evil Village, and Death Stranding later this year. Additionally, the highly anticipated Assassin’s Creed Mirage is slated for release next year.

This marks a significant milestone in the realm of mobile gaming, as the release of these titles on the iPhone 15 Pro will represent the first instance of a console/PC running natively on iOS.

Right now, if you want to play console/PC games on your phone, you have to use cloud streaming services such as GeForce Now or Xbox Cloud Gaming.

Thanks to the A17 Pro chip, you will be able to play these titles on your iPhone. The chip was built on a groundbreaking 3nm process and it incorporates a six-core processor with two performance cores, boasting a 10% speed boost over the A16 Bionic, as well as four efficiency cores.

The GPU, a six-core unit, is claimed to be 20% faster than its predecessor during peak performance and enables hardware-accelerated Ray Tracing, which is four times faster than the software-based Ray Tracing on last year’s chip.

The Neural Engine features a 16-core unit, doubling the speed for machine learning models compared to last year’s chip. The iPhone 15 Pro and Pro Max also have 8GB of RAM.

The performance of these games and their impact on the phone’s battery life will require observation, but the notion of playing AAA games on mobile hardware is undeniably intriguing.

Hopefully, we will be able to get our hands on an iPhone 15 Pro or Pro Max so we can test how well the games run on it.
