On 31 August, telecommunication service providers (telcos) received instructions to enhance internet service speeds for the 2023 National Day celebration in Putrajaya.

Mazlan Abd Mutalib, the secretary of the National Day and Malaysia Day 2023 celebrations working committee, stressed the importance of robust internet access for hosting the significant national event. This emphasis aimed to ensure smooth operations for those on duty, according to Bernama.

“We aim to prevent any disruptions in their responsibilities due to internet issues. The internet stands as a pivotal component,” he said.

Reports indicated that several telcos had already initiated the installation of communication transmitters at designated locations within Dataran Putrajaya. They were also engaged in testing the access speeds of their respective internet networks.

Mazlan, who also serves as the senior undersecretary (management) of the Communications and Digital Ministry, added that the Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission (MCMC) would closely monitor the situation to ensure optimal internet service on that specific day.

Additionally, he expressed satisfaction with the extensive logistic and technical preparations, which had currently reached a completion rate of 90%.

The theme for the 2023 National Day and Malaysia Day is “Malaysia MADANI: Tekad Perpaduan, Penuhi Harapan” (Determination in Unity, Fulfilling Hope), while the Malaysia Madani logo has been designated as this year’s official emblem for the celebration.

This occasion marks the fifth instance of the National Day celebration being hosted in Putrajaya, with the preceding ceremonies taking place in 2003, 2005, 2018, and 2019.
