The next iPhone 15 series are just a couple of months away and some noticeable changes are anticipated in the new iPhones this year when compared to the devices from last year.
According to Mark Gurman of Bloomberg, Apple is introducing several significant changes in the upcoming iPhone 15 Pro and Pro Max. These devices will feature a new low-injection pressure over-molding (LIPO) display technology that reduces bezels around the display to just 1.5mm, compared to 2.2mm on the iPhone 14 Pro series.
The LIPO display process was previously used in the Apple Watch Series 7 and is now making its way to the iPhone Pro series and potentially the next iPad Pro generation.
Another major update is the adoption of a titanium frame for the iPhone 15 Pro series, which will offer increased strength and lighter weight compared to the current stainless steel implementation.
The cameras on the iPhone 15 Pro series will also be upgraded, with the iPhone 15 Pro Max having an exclusive periscope lens, providing 6x optical zoom. The Pro models will be powered by the Apple A17 chipset, manufactured on TSMC’s 3nm node, while the regular iPhone 15 and 15 Plus will continue using last year’s A16 SoC.
The iPhone 15 series is expected to adopt the new chassis design from the iPhone 14, making all upcoming Apple phones easier to repair. Additionally, USB-C will be incorporated into the entire iPhone 15 series due to European Union’s regulation.
However, these new features will come at a premium cost. The iPhone 15 Pro Max is rumoured to start USD200 (RM902.60) higher than the iPhone 14 Pro Max, while the iPhone 15 Pro will see a USD100 (RM451.30) increase in price.
