MSI has officially revealed its first handheld gaming device, the Claw, setting it apart from competitors that use AMD Ryzen processors.
This Windows 11 handheld gaming PC use Intel’s Core Ultra series and showcases Xe-LPG (Arc) graphics, marking a significant milestone as the first handheld gaming device to do so.
The starting price for this handheld device is USD699 (~RM3,249), featuring the Core Ultra 5 135H, 512GB storage, and 16GB RAM of LPDDR5-6400 memory. Alternatively, a more advanced variant is available for USD799 (~RM3,714) that uses Core Ultra 7 155H with 1TB of storage.
The gaming system also comes with WiFi-7 and Bluetooth 5.4, distinguishing itself from competitors such as ASUS ROG Ally or Lenovo Legion GO.
The console boasts a 7-inch 120Hz IPS panel with a 1080p resolution, providing a brightness of up to 500 nits. The display supports VRR (Variable Refresh Rate).
Weighing 675g and equipped with a 53Wh battery, the Claw is expected to deliver a two-hour battery life under full load, attributed to the efficiency of the Intel architecture.
The Claw also uses Hall Effect analog sticks and triggers, has two 2W speakers, a headphone jack, one Type-C (USB / DP / Thunderbolt 4) with PD charging, a microSD Card Reader, and a fingerprint sensor for Windows Hello.
MSI emphasises that the handheld features a 50% larger air vent system compared to rival products, underscoring the effectiveness of its cooling system.
Pricing and Availability
The MSI Claw is set for release in the first half of this year, with the exact launch date yet to be confirmed by MSI.
