The Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission (MCMC), as highlighted by Communications Minister Fahmi Fadzil, is actively pursuing individuals misusing artificial intelligence (AI) to manipulate photos and shame social media users.

This effort aims to ensure online safety, particularly for children. The minister emphasised strict actions against offenders and preventing children aged 13 and below from using social media, according to Bernama.

He also stated that his ministry is engaging social media platform providers to enhance transparency and accountability, with upcoming measures to safeguard online users.

Fahmi also cautioned parents about the risks associated with posting children’s photos online, citing concerns about potential misuse.

He raised alarm over the spread of deviant teachings and child sexual grooming on social media, urging vigilance and emphasising the government’s commitment to protecting online users, especially children.
