The Ministry of Investment, Trade and Industry (MITI) under Minister Tengku Datuk Seri Zafrul Abdul Aziz reaffirms its commitment to achieving the target of 10,000 operational electric vehicle (EV) charging stations in Malaysia by 2025.

This decision will be further discussed during the upcoming Malaysian National EV Steering Committee (NEVSC) meeting. Currently, there are 2,020 EV charging stations nationwide, indicating progress towards the target, according to The Edge Malaysia.

Despite the ambitious nature of the goal, Tengku Zafrul said that the industry players assured him that the target is achievable.

The government is providing incentives and collaborating with relevant ministries and agencies to support the EV industry and ensure the target is met.

The strategy involves streamlining approvals and offering tax incentives to boost EV sales, thereby fostering a symbiotic relationship between charging infrastructure and vehicle adoption.
