Allianz General Insurance Company (Malaysia) Berhad introduced the Allianz EV Shield as a new insurance coverage for electric vehicles (EV) within the Private Car Comprehensive policy.

Sean Wang, the Chief Executive Officer of Allianz Malaysia, stated that the Allianz EV Shield represents the latest addition to the array of comprehensive insurance solutions and roadside assistance offered by the leading motor insurance provider, according to Bernama.

In the unfortunate event of an accident, the company’s Road Rangers will take charge, eliminating the need for customers to contend with solicitors pressuring them to use questionable workshops. He highlighted the company’s commitment to alleviating the post-accident or breakdown hassles.

Additionally, he announced the launch of the Allianz EV Rangers, the first service of its kind in the Klang Valley, providing immediate charging support to cover the distance to the nearest charging facility.

According to Sean, Allianz General is redefining the concept of roadside assistance for customers, addressing common mishap touchpoints with holistic solutions.

For instance, in the scenario of running out of battery on the way to catch a flight, the Allianz EV Rangers will promptly arrive, charge the EV battery, and get the customer back on their journey.

Sean also detailed the benefits of the Allianz EV Shield, including coverage for losses or damages up to RM15,000 due to fire, theft, and natural causes, as well as coverage up to RM2,000 for losses caused by fire, theft, and accidental incidents involving portable charging cables.

In cases of mishaps during public EV charger usage, a compassionate cover of up to RM5,000 is provided for repair costs or medical expenses if the insured vehicle is damaged, and the insured sustains bodily injuries.

Additionally, coverage up to RM50,000 is extended for third-party bodily injury and property damage resulting directly from the insured’s use of an EV home wall charger.

To celebrate the launch, Allianz is currently providing a complimentary RM100 ChargEV charging credit to individuals who secure insurance for their EVs through the Allianz Private Car (Comprehensive) Individual policy before 31 May 2024, for the first 3,000 customers.
