2,338 New Telecommunication Towers Completed Under Jendela Plan

The towers were built as part of the government’s plans to expand the broadband network throughout the country.

As of the fourth quarter of the previous year, 2,338 newly constructed telecommunication towers, out of the intended 3,884 as part of the National Digital Network Plan (Jendela) to enhance broadband networks nationwide, are now operational.

The Ministry of Communications has confirmed the successful upgrade of 39,979 transmitting stations out of the planned 40,214, and 3.31 million premises out of the projected 4.19 million are equipped with fibre optic networks, according to Bernama.

The ministry stated that the remaining planned initiatives are scheduled to be completed and operational in phases by the conclusion of 2025.

Additionally, the government has implemented the Point of Presence (PoP) fibre optic hub approach to extend broadband implementation.

As of 15 February, 653 PoPs out of 677 for Phase One and 294 PoPs out of 3,693 for Phase Two have been successfully completed nationwide.
