Maxis customers will start enjoying 5G services after the company gets shareholder approval at the Extraordinary General Meeting (EGM) next month.
The Ministry of Communications and Digital (KKD) released a statement saying that Maxis has started the process to sign a 5G access agreement with Digital Nasional Bhd (DNB) after several issues related to the matter were finalized on 11 July 2023.
CelcomDigi, Telekom Malaysia, U-Mobile and YTL Communications have already offered 5G services after signing a 5G access agreement with DNB last year.

5G Dual agreement done
The Ministry also said that Malaysia’s 5G Dual Network Implementation Task Force has successfully reached an agreement regarding equity participation in DNB and the 5G access agreement with DNB.
KKD said in a statement that CelcomDigi, Maxis, Telekom Malaysia, U-Mobile and YTL Communications will finalize the shareholding process in DNB.
(Those who signed) will then support the development of the 5G network by DNB until it reaches 80 percent coverage in populated areas by the end of 2023, before switching to a dual network model as early as January 2024. The service provider company will take all the necessary action to complete this process.
