MCMC Fully Supports The Government’s Commitment To No Extra 5G Charges

The regulatory body said they will ensure that each mobile network service provider complies with the commitment.

The MADANI Government’s commitment to ensuring that mobile network service providers do not levy extra fees for access to 5G networks is fully endorsed by the Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission (MCMC).

In a statement by MCMC, the regulatory body expressed support for Communications Minister Fahmi Fadzil’s recent announcement on the matter, emphasising its alignment with the government’s continuous endeavours to ensure fair and impartial access to advanced telecommunications technology for all Malaysians.

During a press conference on Tuesday (9 January), Fahmi declared that telecommunications companies would not impose additional charges on users for 5G network access.

The MCMC affirmed its dedication to ensuring compliance with this commitment by every mobile network service provider, as stated in their official statement.

Furthermore, the MCMC stated that as of 31 December 2023, the 5G network coverage in populated areas had achieved a milestone of 80.2%.
