IT service management company Datasonic Group Bhd will supply MyKads, MyTentera, MyPOCA and Malaysian passports for six months after bagging the contract from the Home Ministry.

Reports from NST say that the contract, which is worth RM163.64 million, will run from 1 December 2023 to 31 May 2024.

The company will supply Malaysian passport chips, documents and polycarbonate biodata pages for the passports, MyKad, MyTentera, MyPOCA raw cards and consumables to the National Registration Department (NRD), as part of the contract, according to reports.

Datasonic Executive Chairman Tengku Datuk Abu Bakar Ahmad Tengku Abdullah was quoted saying they have been able to cater to the spike in demand for passports after Malaysia reopened its borders as well as MyKads and while dealing with supply chain interruptions and elevated input costs.

We are proud to continue our role as the sole provider of passport solutions to the Immigration Department of Malaysia, a role we have been successfully fulfilling since 2016. Similarly, for MyKad solutions, Datasonic is certainly pleased to continue our services to our client and nation having been the sole provider of MyKad to NRD for more than 10 years since 2012. These wins reflect our proven track record and delivery.
