Apple is unlikely to incorporate any type of fingerprint scanner into its future iPhones, as reported by an integrated circuit expert on Weibo.

The tools previously utilised by Apple to produce iPhone Touch ID chips have purportedly been shut down permanently, with the last Touch ID components being used in the third-gen iPhone SE (2022), according MacRumors.

The fourth-generation iPhone SE is anticipated to feature a full-screen design with Face ID, deviating from the approach taken by most Android manufacturers who are incorporating under-display Touch ID sensors.

Despite this, ongoing speculation suggests that Apple is actively developing under-display fingerprint technology, which is expected to debut around 2026 – coinciding with the rumoured timeframe for integrating Face ID under the device’s display.
