Sony released the Xperia 5 V in September 2023, and a couple of months later, the phone is finally available in Malaysia.

The Xperia 5 V is powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 chipset, featuring a sole configuration of 8GB RAM and 256GB of expandable storage via a microSD card. The phone is running on Xperia UI based on Android 13.

The device showcases a 6.1-inch 1080p OLED display with a 120Hz refresh rate and Corning Gorilla Glass Victus 2.

Despite its cost, the phone incorporates only two camera sensors—a 48MP main camera with OIS and three focal lengths, accompanied by a 12MP ultra-wide lens. The front of the phone accommodates a 12MP selfie camera.

Sustaining the phone’s operation is a 5,000mAh battery that supports 30W wired charging and Sony claims the phone can be charge to 50% in half an hour. Notably, wireless and reverse wireless charging are also supported.

For protection, the phone boasts an IP68 dust and water resistance rating. It includes a 3.5mm headphone jack, a side-mounted fingerprint sensor, USB Type-C 3.2, WiFi 6e support, and Bluetooth 5.3.

Pricing and Availability

The Xperia 5 V is only available in black and you can purchase the phone from the Sony’s online store at the price of RM4,999.
