According to insiders, people familiar with the matter, Rockstar Games, a subsidiary of Take-Two Interactive Software Inc., intends to unveil the highly anticipated next Grand Theft Auto (GTA) game as early as this week.
The company plans to follow this with the release of a GTA VI trailer next month to mark Rockstar’s 25th anniversary. These individuals, who requested anonymity due to a lack of authorisation to speak publicly, disclosed this information, according to a well-known video game journalist, Jason Schreier.
Fans have been waiting for more than a decade for the next GTA instalment. The previous GTA game, GTA V, was released back in September 2013 for Xbox 360, PS3, and PC. The publisher went on to release the game again on PS4 and Xbox One, and later on PS5 and Xbox Series X/S.
Last year, hackers released substantial early footage from GTA VI, with Rockstar attributing it to a “network intrusion” and promising a proper introduction to the game when it’s ready.
The game is set in a fictional Miami-like setting and features two main characters, a man and a woman.
