There have been many incidents of video game leaks in the past. Most notably, the leak of Half-Life 2 source code back in 2003, by a German hacker, five months before the title was supposed to be released. Assassin’s Creed Odyssey was leaked because the merchandise was sent to retailers ahead of the announcement. This Grand Theft Auto (GTA) 6 leak will now be forever immortalised in the history of video game.

Engadget reported that on 18 September, a hacker going by the handle teapotuberhacker, released a vast collection of footage from Rockstar Games’ next Grand Theft Auto game. The hacker uploaded 90 videos to the GTAForums and even though the post is now gone, this doesn’t stop people from sharing the videos online.

As you can see from the video, the game is still in the early development stage. According to Jason Schreier, a well-known video game journalist, GTA 6 will feature two playable protagonists. One of them is a female character by the name of Lucia, who can be seen in one of the clips robbing a restaurant. The game will take place in Vice City, which is based on the fictional version of Miami.

Schreier added, according to his sources, the leak footages are genuine.

Apparently, the hacker is trying to strike a deal with Rockstar. But there’s no mention of what kind of deal.

The hacker also added that they were able to get the test build via hacking into a Rockstar employee’s Slack account, and they may release more files online, such as GTA V and GTA VI source code and assets, in addition to the test build itself.
