TikTok has denied claims made by the Malaysian government that the platform has been taking down pro-Palestinian content.
Reuters quoted a spokesperson who emailed the media outlet saying that the claims made were “unfounded”.
The claim is unfounded. Our community guidelines apply equally to all content on TikTok, and we’re committed to consistently enforcing our policies to protect our community

Meanwhile, Meta also came out on Thursday saying there was “no truth” to the accusation that Facebook has done the same and added that they are not deliberately suppressing voices on their platform.
Reports state that both of these platforms however, view Hamas as a “dangerous organisation” and ban content that praises the group.
Fahmi says there’s evidence of TikTok removing content on Palestine-Israel conflict
Communications and Digital Minister Fahmi Fadzil said recently that TikTok has taken down or removed Malaysian-made content related to the Palestine-Israel conflict.
He was quoted by Bernama saying that numerous users of the platform complained to the Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission (MCMC) that their content and live broadcasts were either taken down or restricted, including those related to Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim’s recent speech during the Malaysia Stands with Palestine Rally.
For example, there was content on Prime Minister’s speech and several pictures from Gaza…and Tiktok in their feedback said there were violent images. When I looked at the content, the pictures were of a father carrying his lifeless child shrouded in cloth. No blood, nothing gory. To me, this doesn’t make sense…I am so mad at TikTok now and we have sent a message to make them understand.

Fahmi added that he had also asked the MCMC to issue a strong warning to TikTok and Meta and organise meetings to discuss the issue.
