The Perak state government is actively pursuing an 80% 5G network coverage target in populated areas across the state by the end of this year.

Bernama reports that Perak Menteri Besar Datuk Saarani Mohamad disclosed that as of August, 5G network coverage in populated areas within the state had already achieved a rate of 70.8%.

Mohd Azlan Helmi, the chairman of the State Communications, Multimedia, and Non-governmental Organisation (NGO) Committee, has stated that the state government will collaborate closely with Digital Nasional Bhd (DNB), particularly concerning matters related to location and the network coverage’s significance.

“We aim to ensure a well-coordinated 5G coverage that reaches the intended audience. For instance, when the Proton factory relocates from Shah Alam to Tanjung Malim, there will be a significant movement of people and industry stakeholders.”

“Therefore, it is crucial to establish 5G network coverage in that area. More importantly, this move will enhance its value and attract more investors to establish factories in Tanjung Malim,” he emphasised.
