Yesterday, Xiaomi’s CEO Lei Jun unveiled their latest foldable, the Xiaomi Mix Fold 3 to the Chinese market.

GSMArena reports that the Mix Fold 3 features a Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 chipset, offering up to 16GB of RAM and 1TB of storage. Its software is powered by MIUI 14, which is based on Android 13.

The foldable boasts dual E6 OLED screens. The primary inner panel is an 8.03-inch LTPO display with a resolution of 1,960 x 2,160 and a variable refresh rate of 120Hz.

This panel is equipped with Ultra Thin Glass (UTG), supports HDR10+ and Dolby Vision.

The secondary outer display measures 6.56 inches and utilizes Gorilla Glass Victus 2, delivering a peak brightness of up to 2,560 nits in auto mode.

Besides that, Xiaomi has outfitted the Mix Fold 3 with a quad-camera configuration featuring Leica optics.

The main camera employs a 50MP Sony IMX800 sensor (equivalent to 23mm) with optical image stabilization (OIS).

Additionally, there’s a 12MP ultrawide lens (equivalent to 15mm). Zoom capabilities are provided by a 10MP telephoto lens (equivalent to 75mm) with 3x zoom and a 10MP periscope module (equivalent to 115mm) capable of 5x optical zoom. Both telephoto modules come with OIS.

To ensure extended usage, the Mix Fold 3 is equipped with a 4,800mAh battery. It supports 67W wired charging and introduces a new addition of 50W wireless charging.

Remarkably, the Mix Fold 3 is even thinner than its predecessor, measuring only 5.26mm when unfolded and 10.89mm when folded. This reduction in size is attributed to the implementation of a vertically stacked motherboard by Xiaomi’s engineers.

Xiaomi has also developed a new proprietary hinge consisting of 198 components, occupying 17% less internal space compared to the previous design.

This new hinge incorporates a 3-element structure and 14 micro-hinges that securely house the primary folding display, enhancing its durability.

The hinge also incorporates a carbon ceramic steel rotating mechanism and supports a 45° to 135° hover opening angle, enabling users to position the phone like a miniature laptop.

The Xiaomi Mix Fold 3 offers options in both glass and composite fibre back versions and the prices remain the same regardless of the chosen material.
