Initially, Tesla Malaysia allegedly said that they will be providing a free Wall Connector for Model Y customers, but later on, the company said this was a miscommunication and they have no plans to do so.

After a while, we have finally received the confirmation that Tesla is, indeed, providing a complimentary Wall Connector.

But it’s only for customers who place an order for a brand-new Tesla vehicle via tesla.com before 31 October 2023, will be eligible to receive a free Tesla Wall Connector for installation at their specified residential location.

Tesla will deliver the home charger through the Tesla Home Charging program. The Wall Connector, valued at RM2,880, is covered by a 12-month warranty, and there is a separate 12-month warranty for the installation workmanship.

Customers will receive the Wall Connector for free, but they will be responsible for the installation cost.

The installation must take place at the address provided in the customer’s order form within 3 months of receiving their Model Y. Failure to do so will result in forfeiture, as the Wall Connector is not provided separately. Tesla will soon announce the Tesla Approved Installers responsible for the installation.

Tesla Malaysia has stated that the cost to install the Wall Connector at the customer’s location is RM2,200. This fee covers standard installation work and equipment, including the switch, circuit breakers, residual current devices, and distribution box.

Customers will also need to pay RM36 per meter for the electrical cable, or RM60 per meter if they prefer armoured cable. Residents of Sabah or Sarawak will have to pay an additional installation fee of RM300.

If customers require additional Wall Connectors, they are allowed to purchase up to two more units for each Tesla they own.

Tesla said the Wall Connector supplies a full charge up to 11.5 kW, providing up to 71 km of range per hour (with a 3-phase supply).
