Communications Minister Fahmi Fadzil has announced that several government agencies will be placed under his ministry after the split of the Communications and Digital Ministry into two separate ministries.
In an announcement made today, Fahmi said the agencies that will be under Communications are:
- Bernama
- Tun Abdul Razak Institute of Broadcasting and Information
- Department Of Information
- Department of Broadcasting (RTM)
- Finas
- Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission
- MyCreative Ventures
- J-KOM
Bernama reported that J-KOM was previously under the Prime Minister’s Department (JPM).
He mentioned that the other agencies such as the Malaysia Digital Economy Corporation (MDEC), and the Department of Personal Data Protection will be under the newly-created Digital Ministry.
The Ministry was split into two after Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim announced a cabinet reshuffle which saw Puchong MP Gobind Singh Deo appointed as the Digital Minister.
Gobind was previously the Communications and Digital Minister in 2018.
There are 31 ministers in Anwar’s new Cabinet with 29 deputy ministers, a slight increase from the 28-member Cabinet previously, which had 27 deputy ministers.
The Community Communications Dept (J-KOM), will come under the purview of the Comms Ministry, says @fahmi_fadzil.
