Artificial intelligence’s (AI) transformative capabilities across industries, enabling machines to mimic human intelligence, perform complex tasks, and make data-driven decisions with remarkable accuracy, have made it paramount in today’s world.
With potential applications across wide-ranging industries, AI has the power to revolutionise various sectors. But we also need to keep AI in check so it doesn’t backfire on us.
To do that, the Communications and Digital Minister Fahmi Fadzil stated that the government is contemplating the necessity of a regulatory framework to address ethical concerns pertaining to the use of artificial intelligence (AI) technology, according to FMT.
Fahmi highlighted that establishing the framework would allow the government to better comprehend the challenges associated with adopting this new technology.
He also expressed the importance of involving experts from government agencies and the industry in understanding the potential impact of AI on the employment sector.
With an increasing number of people using AI applications, Fahmi stressed the need for the government to explore the establishment of a regulatory framework for the responsible use of this technology.
Fahmi emphasised that AI is a subject requiring better understanding among the public. To address this, Fahmi suggested that Radio Televisyen Malaysia (RTM) produce a special program in collaboration with the Dewan Bahasa dan Pustaka, enabling guests to discuss AI in Malay, thus contributing to an expanded Malay vocabulary related to AI technology.
