Starting this July, the Johor government has allocated over RM1.9 million for the installation of Premium Maju Johor broadband (WiFi) facilities in 63 hotspots across 23 locations in the state.
Bernama reports that according to Johor Education and Information Committee chairman Aznan Tamin, the initiative will include Johor Sultan Ibrahim Islamic University College and the Johor Education Foundation College, ensuring each location receives a minimum speed of 1 Gbps for every line.
Furthermore, four government hospitals – Sultanah Aminah Hospital, Johor Bahru, Sultan Ismail Hospital, Johor Bahru, Sultanah Nora Ismail Hospital, Batu Pahat, and Enche’ Besar Hajjah Kalsom Hospital, Kluang – will benefit from this initiative.
Aznan also highlighted additional locations such as the registration counter and waiting room of the Johor Bahru Land Office, the Kulai District Land Office, the Customs, Immigration and Quarantine (CIQ) Complex at the Sultan Iskandar Building, and the Larkin Bus Terminal.
He added that 25 hotspots across 13 People’s Housing Projects (PPR) in Johor will be equipped with Premium WiFi facilities, boasting a speed of 2 Gbps per hotspot, ultimately benefiting 12,700 families.
