Tesla just announced the official opening of the first Supercharging station in Melaka at
Freeport A’Famosa Outlet.
This is the 4th station added to the current Supercharging network in Malaysia, with a total of 20 Superchargers in the country.
The latest Tesla V3 Supercharging station offers four new Superchargers and one Destination Charger. Tesla has stated that the V3 Supercharging station achieves a peak efficiency of 250kW, allowing a Model 3 to recharge up to 282km of charge in just 15 minutes.
These chargers are accessible 24/7, and the charging rate is priced at RM1.25/kWh. A penalty of RM4 per minute is applicable if the Tesla vehicle is not removed promptly once its battery is fully charged.
The Destination Charger provides a slower charging rate compared to Superchargers but is free for Tesla vehicle owners. This deliberate design allows Tesla owners to park and charge their vehicles for an extended period, including overnight charging.
It’s important to note that Tesla does not own or operate these chargers; instead, ownership and maintenance responsibility lie with the property owners, in this case, Freeport A’Famosa.
The charging stations are equipped with integrated support for Tesla vehicles, and the mobile app facilitates easy navigation, preconditioning of the vehicle battery, and access to the charging station for a quick and hassle-free charging experience.
This functionality includes real-time monitoring of charger availability, charging status, payment options, and technical support, among other features.
