Just a couple of days ago, Meta released its new Threads app, designed to rival Twitter. The app was made available for pre-order on both the iPhone and Android operating systems and it was officially launched today for users to download.

According to TechCrunch, Mark Zuckerberg, the CEO of Meta, stated that in just two hours after its launch on the App Store, Threads garnered over two million signups on his personal Threads account. It seems the popularity of the app continues to surge without any indications of stopping.

Threads has been seamlessly integrated with Instagram, resulting in Instagram accounts now showcasing a Threads user number. This implementation ensures transparency and real-time tracking of the user count within Threads.

The purpose of Threads is to establish a decentralised and autonomous social network that facilitates real-time sharing of written messages.

Elon Musk, the owner of Tesla, took over Twitter in October, causing a period of uncertainty within the company. Since then, Musk has made substantial changes, such as restructuring, conducting mass layoffs, and introducing a subscription paywall for specific features. All the changes drove users to look for an alternative, and this is where Threads comes into play.

While it is easy for iPhone users to search and download the app on App Store, the same cannot be said for Android users. To locate the app on the Google Play Store, simply typing “Threads” in the search box might not yield the expected results. Instead, users should specifically search for “Instagram Threads,” and the app will appear.
