Ookla’s Speedtest Global Index Report Reveals M’sia’s Mobile And Fixed Broadband Median Speeds Have Gone Up

Previously, we reported that according to Ookla, as of January 2023, the average broadband internet speed in Malaysia is 92.69 Mbps while the average mobile internet speed is 43.67 Mbps. This places Malaysia at 36th spot for broadband internet and 48th for mobile internet. Time has the fastest median download speed of 106.54 Mbps, followed by Maxis with 89.23 Mbps and lastly, TM with 83.60 Mbps.

Based on Ookla’s latest Speedtest Global Index report for March 2023, Malaysia’s fixed broadband speed has gone up to a median of 93.81 Mbps, but we dropped one spot to 37th. Our mobile median download speed has gone up to 47.72 Mbps and we went up three ranks to 45th.

Besides that, Time gained some slight speed improvement with a median download of 107.56 Mbps, followed by Maxis with 90.92 Mbps, and finally TM with 87.39 Mbps.

Furthermore, Time also has the lowest median multi-server latency at 9 ms and most consistent performance with 88.3% of results showing at least a 25 Mbps minimum download speed and 3 Mbps minimum upload speed.
