If you are wondering what’s in store for the next iOS update, here are the new features and changes that will be coming in the iOS 16.4 update, which should arrive very soon to your iPhone, according to MacRumors.

21 New Emojis

This new update includes new emojis that were added with Unicode 15.0, such as a donkey, a moose, a jellyfish, a trembling face, a heart in three new colour variants, and more.

Web Push Notifications

Through this feature, users can receive notifications from websites through Safari exactly like they would from apps downloaded from the App Store. Push notification requests can only be made by websites that users have saved as web apps on their home screens.

Easier Beta Updates Download Process

This streamlines the beta installation procedure by allowing participants in Apple’s Developer Program to access developer betas of iOS without the need to install a configuration profile from the Apple Developer website. The same menu also makes it simple to enable iOS’s public betas.

This option will only appear on your iPhone if the device is signed into the same Apple ID you used to enrol in Apple’s Developer Program. According to Apple, in subsequent iOS releases, this new option will be the sole way to unlock developer betas, preventing configuration profiles from being used and distributed for free online.

Improvements to the Podcasts App

The Podcasts app now has a Channels menu on the iPhone, where users can find all their podcast channels in one place. Additionally, the Up Next queue now includes both saved episodes and episodes played from non-followed shows.

Furthermore, CarPlay users can now access the Up Next and Recently Played queues from the Listen Now tab, as well as browse podcast recommendations from the Browse tab.

Improvements to the Home App Architecture

Once iOS 16.4 is installed, there is an optional update for the Home app which includes new underlying architecture. According to Apple, this updated architecture enhances the app’s ability to manage smart home accessories by improving performance, efficiency, and reliability.

Voice Isolation

When activated, this feature eliminates background noise in your surroundings to enhance the clarity of your voice during calls over the mobile network.

iCloud Shared Photo Library Duplication Detection

The Photos app now has the capability to recognize duplicate photos and videos within an iCloud Shared Photo Library. Users have the option to merge these duplicates in order to declutter their library and free up storage space.

Crash Detection Optimisations

Due to complaints from emergency dispatchers in various regions of the United States and Canada regarding a surge of erroneous 911 calls originating from skiers and snowboarders during the winter season, Apple has been making efforts to enhance the feature.

The new iOS 16.4 update is only for iPhone 8 and newer.
