Previously, if you wanted to invite someone to join a chat, you had to manually add them, or only people inside a group could join a group call. WhatsApp understands that is a hassle and they have a new feature that will make video or voice calls much more seamless and much easier to use.

WhatsApp is releasing a new feature dubbed ‘Call Links’ that allows users to send video or voice call links.

For this to work, the people you are sharing the link with need to have the latest version of WhatsApp installed. If not, the link is useless to them. This feature works for everyone, even those not in your contacts. This work just like Google Meet for example.

However, you will not be able to schedule your call according to Engadget. Besides that, Mark Zuckerberg also said that WhatsApp is currently testing secure, encrypted video calling for groups of up to 32 users. He promised to give additional information about this soon.

The ‘Call Links’ feature is coming out this week, so keep an eye on it. Remember to update the app to the latest version as well.
