Health Minister Khairy Jamaluddin said that he had a virtual meeting with several associations to encourage the use of MySJ Trace at their premises.

They include the Malaysian Retail Chain Association, Business Events Council Malaysia, Malaysian Association of Convention and Exhibition Organisers and Suppliers, Malaysia Shopping Malls Association, Prasarana Bhd, and Malaysian Indian Muslim Restaurant Owners Association.

They all have agreed to encourage their visitors and promote the use of MySJ Trace at their premises.

MySJ Trace is a mobile contact tracing function that uses Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE) technology to detect individuals who are close contacts of COVID-19 cases.

Meanwhile, Khairy did not rule out the possibility of making the feature mandatory if the adoption rate is low.

Currently, the MySJ Trace is only available on Huawei and Android phones. Although the MOH said that it had submitted the update to the My Sejahtera app to all three major app stores at the same time, it is still not available on the Apple App Store.

[UPDATE: The MySJ Trace feature is not available on all major smartphone OS.]
