Designed to withstand extreme temperatures, constant vibrations, or high levels of dust and humidity, Dell’s latest entry into its rugged line is aimed squarely at those who work in difficult conditions.
The new Dell Latitude 5430 Rugged is a 5G-capable 14in semi-rugged laptop and the Latitude 7330 Rugged Extreme is a 5G-capable 13in a fully-rugged laptop.
That means it has been tested up to MIL-STD-810H spec, is drop-tested from up to 6-feet, and has a water, dust, dirt ingress-protection (IP) rating of IP-65.
These machines are meant for those who work on an oil rig, in manufacturing, in the military, first responders, and those on the field.
According to Dell, the Rugged laptop will come with 11th Gen Intel Core processors with optional vPro, Intel Wi-FI 6E and optional 5G connectivity, daylight-readable and glove-tough capable displays, and hot-swappable batteries with a 25 hours battery life and Express Charge Boost.
For security, both machines will also come with TPM 2.0 ControlVault advanced authentication. Optional integrated cryptographic keys, contact and contactless smartcard reader and touch fingerprint reader are also available for additional device security.
