Malaysian petrol heads and sim racers can rejoice as you will be able to tear down several popular touge roads in the country, without needing to worry about getting arrested for street racing by PDRM.
The PC specific Assetto Corsa tracks are still under development by local solo modder, AntuDusun who calls the project the Malaysian Touge Simracing Project.
What Is Touge?
Okay, I know there are some people going “Ni tauge ke apa?”, Touge is a Japanese word meaning Pass and is pronounced toh•gei.
The word is used to refer to mountain passes or narrow winding roads found in mountain areas. The racing format is to go up or down the mountain pass as fast as you can.
This activity became so popular it birthed the world of drifting and popular manga and anime Initial D (which even had a live-action movie).
Malaysian Touge Simracing Project
Back to the project, AntuDusun revealed that among popular touge roads planned to be released to Assetto Corsa will include Batang Kali, Ulu Yam, Bukit Tinggi, Fraser’s Hill and many others.
The modder models the tracks from scratch on their real life counterparts. AntuDusun uses various Google tools to get data such as distance, corner radius and elevation.
The modder will first release the Batang Kali pass, which started development back in August. AntuDusun says the course itself is taking steady progress with all that is left to include are the intricate details such as houses, road signs, vegetation, and a number of props.
The beta version of Batang Kali has been released on October 13, available to testers via the project’s Patreon page. AntuDusun added that this is a long term project with hopes to release one track every month.
Support The Project
To keep up with the project, you should follow and like the Malaysian Touge Simracing Project Facebook page.
If you wish to financially support the project, you can do exactly that at the project’s Patreon page with as little as a US$3 pledge (roughly RM12.46). Contributors are automatically eligible to be beta testers for upcoming tracks.
Also worth noting, AntuDusun has other projects that will quench your touge thirst even more. He released famous Japanese touge roads such as Irohazaka and Gunsai passes, with plans on adding Mount Akina to the roster.
