Ramadan is only eight days away, and this means Malaysians are preparing their wallets and tummies to buy and savour a variety of foods and beverages at Ramadan bazaars. To spice things up, the government is preparing to give people some free eWallet credits.
The Star reports that Deputy Domestic Trade and Living Costs Minister Fuziah Salleh has announced that visitors to Rahmah Ramadan Bazaars may be eligible to receive a RM20 incentive through the use of eWallet platforms.
This initiative, which involves a total allocation of approximately RM2 million, will be provided to the first 1,000 visitors at selected bazaars in partnership with eWallet platform operators or providers.
The incentive will be implemented six times in each state, benefitting 6,000 visitors in total. However, each person is only entitled to receive the incentive once. Fuziah stated that the purpose of this initiative is to promote cashless transactions and educate the community while reducing living costs.
Currently, 29 bazaars have registered for the Rahmah Ramadan Bazaar program, and the ministry aims to hold it at 50 locations nationwide.
Fuziah didn’t say which eWallet platforms, though we guess it’s going to be the popular ones like Grabpay, Touch ‘n Go eWallet and Boost.
