How many of you just download apps like Facebook, Instagram, and WhatsApp and just start using them without going through their privacy settings? Whatever you post, everyone can see it, instead of just letting your friends and family see what you are sharing. This could also be the reason why you are seeing more ads than others because you didn’t limit what the advertisers can find out about you.

That is why Meta has decided to launch an education campaign so users of Meta’s platforms will understand more about their privacy options.

Today, the giant social media company launched its #JomJagaPrivasi campaign to educate and encourage Malaysians to learn about privacy tools and resources on its platforms. This hybrid online and offline campaign will run for two weeks.

Between 28 October and 30 October, Meta invites the public to visit its first ever physical pop-up Privacy Cafe at The Farm Craft, located at The Sphere, Bangsar South, to learn about how they can manage their privacy settings.

At the cafe, everyone are invited to take a privacy quiz, join in a lineup of activities that encourages people to learn through play and gain knowledge on how to manage their privacy online.

There’s an interactive digital experience, ‘Your Home’ that uses creative home design to help users demystify online privacy and there’s also an Instagram AR filter in collaboration with Florian Sabatier, an augmented reality (AR) creator and his company, Holowisp.

Once you are done with the activities, you will get to enjoy complimentary desserts and beverages (while stocks last).

Visitors can also expect to meet local key opinion leaders (KOLs) such as Ceddy Ang, Tan Yuki, Gajendrabalan Chandra, Adam Muzam, Ori Yuanwei, Amira Sachie and Jessica Chaw who will be making an appearance at the cafe.

Nicole Tan, Country Director and Noudhy Valdryno, Head of Public Policy said Meta is committed to protecting people’s privacy and they will continue to build tools to give people more transparency over how their data is used.

So, if you are living in Klang Valley and you feel like you want some help with privacy on Meta’s platforms, you can head over to The Farm Craft at Bangsar South from today until 30 October 2022.
