Yesterday, nubia unveils its latest Android gaming smartphone, the RedMagic 8 Pro. The phone is powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 2, with up to 16 of LPDDR5X RAM, and up to 512GB of UFS 4.0 storage. There’s also a dedicated gaming chip “Red Core 2”, which can adjust shoulder triggers, vibrations, touch, and sound effects in real time.

It has a flat, almost bezel-less 6.8-inch AMOLED display with 2480 x 1116 pixel resolution, 120Hz refresh rate, and 960Hz touch sampling rate.

The phone has a triple-camera setup, using a Samsung’s 50MP GN5 sensor for the main camera, an 8MP ultra wide and a 2MP macro. On the front, there’s a second generation 16MP under display camera (UDC).

This is a gaming phone, so there are pressure sensitive buttons with 520Hz touch sampling rate and to keep the phone cool under load, RedMagic has implemented a cooling system dubbed “ICE 11.0”, where it uses a vapour chamber and a mini-fan that spins at 20,000 rpm.

To keep the phone running, there’s a big 6,000mAh battery that support up to 65W fast-charging and it can fully charge in less than 43 minutes according to RedMagic.

Other than that, the phone comes with stereo speakers, dual X-axis linear motors, a 3.5 mm headphone jack, Bluetooth 5.3, WiFi 7, and supports 5G.

The entry version of the Redmagic 8 Pro comes in Matte colour, which has a sandstone-like finish. The top-of-the-line Void model comes with a transparent glass back that reveals the mini-fan covered in RGB lights.
